Employee Testimonials
Barbara P., In-Home Aide--Oxford HealthCare is voted number one in the Ozarks. They set the standard of excellence for home care. They are very caring and helpful for all their clients as well as their employees who are caring and thoughtful. They only want to provide the very best services.
I started to work for UpJohn which later changed its name to Oxford HealthCare over 25 years ago because I wanted to keep people in their own homes and out of nursing homes. By working for Oxford HealthCare I've met and cared for so many nice people. They are grateful for the services so they can stay in their own homes. Some people do not have children or family close by to help them. Oxford HealthCare is the very best and they provide hospice services as well. That's why I have loved to work for Oxford HealthCare all these years.
Judy D., Senior Recruitment Specialist--I've been employed at Oxford 21 years, and people often ask me why I have worked so long for Oxford. I have given this a lot of personal thought, and I have decided this is the reason. . . Oxford has the integrity that no other company can top, I have wonderful support from Oxford, I have made many good coworker friends that are always there for me, and as a recruiter I know deep in my heart that I have hired the people that I would want caring for my mother and father. I can go home in the evening and feel the pride that the clients will reap the rewards of my efforts to find the best people to care for them and make a difference in their lives.
Amy M., RN, Night Weekend Coordinator--I began working as a nurse at Oxford in May 1995. At that time I was married and had a 6 month old son. I had been working a full time job Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with no weekends or holidays--sounds like a dream job for a nurse, but for me it was not. I wanted to be home with my son instead of taking him to daycare. I came to Oxford and worked every Saturday and Sunday, which allowed me to stay home during the week to care for him, thus eliminating our daycare bill.
Since that time, Oxford has seen me through the birth of my second son, a divorce and a remarriage. Through all of this, Oxford became like a second "family"--a stable resource that was always there for me. I gradually increased my hours and began working some shifts through the weekdays as my sons reached school age. Oxford treats me with great respect, allows flexible scheduling, and provides opportunities for me to learn nursing skills in both office and field positions. The exciting part about Oxford is that it is always growing and branching into new areas so it is never boring! I like working for an innovative company that is "setting the pace" for its competitors and always looking to the future. Oxford is a respected company that truly is a privilege to work for!
Linda T., RN, Director of Quality Management
I started at Oxford in 1985
Seeing patients in their homes with many back roads to drive.
Helping them stay in their own environment seemed quite alright
Encouraging independence but giving security and peace at night.
I didn't always love the biting dogs, the peacocks, or the cows to pass
Or the low water crossings--alas, often no impasse.
But the patients made me thankful by giving me praise
And the Ozark valleys were a setting for a Monet.
The sweet lady alone in the Ozarks hills, the old man dying with family at his side
They all gave meaning to a nurse who was trying
To do her best and be there when needed
A shoulder to cry on would not go unheeded.
But I left all of that to become a QA Nurse
and into the charts I became immersed. . .
We checked here and we checked there
We didn't accept any errors.
The best of course--were the Oxford staff
There were times we cried and times we laughed
We had to come up with a Mission, and tried with all our might
So--"Oxford Sets the Standard"--seemed just right!
Twenty-four years have gone so fast
Oxford support through the years has been unsurpassed.
It doesn't seem so long ago but I've been blessed
As an Oxford Nurse--it was the best.
Cynthia W., In-Home Aide--Oxford HealthCare to me was a God-send at just the right time I needed a job. Nobody knew at the time I started at Oxford that my husband had just left me, and I was going through a divorce and was left with being on my own. Oxford came highly recommended, and I didn't even know if I had a chance. I applied and left it in God's hands. Low and behold, they called, and here I am today. God truly does hear and answer prayers and takes care of those who call on Him.
Today I am so blessed to be able to take care of my clients. They are such a blessing to me, and I feel like we are doing such a great ministry here so people can stay in their own homes with their families where they are more comfortable. Oxford HealthCare gives me the flexibility to be on my own with the clients and the accountability to strict guidelines of protocol with state and local requirements.
To meet the needs of the clients is the number one priority with Oxford HealthCare, and I'm proud to be a part of such an honorable company that cares about their employees. They make sure I have all the support that's needed and never force me to take a client I don't feel comfortable with. Thank you Oxford HealthCare for giving me a chance to do something so worthwhile and meaningful with my life.
Debbie A, In-Home Services Field Coordinator--The reason I like working for Oxford is simple, the clients. It gives me such pleasure to know that myself and the other aides are helping our clients to stay in their homes. It's knowing they are happy to see me by the smile on their face when I arrive and the hug they give me when I leave. It's the laugh I get when I tell them a funny joke, or the look of thanks in their eyes when I comfort them on a bad day. So that's why I like working for Oxford--the clients!
Kathy H., Training Coordinator--I love to work for Oxford HealthCare, because what Oxford does matters. They help others in need and promote better health for their patients as well as for their employees. It is a worthy cause that we promote.
I love the people I work with, and I love the connections with others--the implementation team, McKesson, the laptoppers and the telephony users, the front desk, IT, Night Weekend, Hospice, Human Resources, Accounting, and all the divisions that make up this great team. And I love how Cliff and Pumpkin are great ambassadors for Oxford.
I love that I learn all the time--about this business, about Horizon, about technology, and about what other people do to help others. I love that Oxford is progressive and flexible. Being eligible for benefits such as insurance and vacation time for employees who work at least 20 hours a week is rare, and embracing technology shows we are a leader.
Oxford goes beyond the daily business and reaches out to the community, to patients, and to employees in ways that show they have heart. The Community Care Fund, adopting children at Christmas, and the many events we help with through the year as well as little things to show employee appreciation add up to big reasons to love Oxford.
Rosemary H, LPN--Love working at Oxford HealthCare?? A hearty, "Indeed I do!!" Eleven years and counting of working and caring for the BEST patients and their families in our Ozark communities of southwest Missouri. As an Oxford employee I am allowed to care, share and give the best care. I am given outstanding opportunities for education on current up-to-date in home care. The spring and fall inservices only get better each year. I appreciate the flexible, workable hours just for me.
My coworkers are the cream of the crop. Over the years I have had to deal with the health of my own family and their eventual deaths. My Oxford family has been there for me--hugs, flowers, food, cards, calls, presence--all above and beyond.
Those are the reasons I love working for Oxford. Above and beyond people-persons throughout ALL of Oxford HealthCare who are there for our patients, their families and each other.
Carol C., MSW, Care Coordinator--It is a rare person who can take care of business while also taking care of hearts." This quote was given to me recently by my secret pal in the office, and I realized it summed up what Oxford is all about. Yes, we are a business, but a business which exists to improve and enhance lives. What better goal could we have?
Every employee has a part in providing care to our clients and families, and I am proud to have been a part of this organization for the past 12 years. We make a difference, however small, every day. Many changes have occurred over the years and quality care has always been the priority. We have always risen to the occasion and been better for it.
Coworkers support and care for each other. Many times I have seen employees rally to help someone in need. Oxford hires people who care, and it shows. I can leave at the end of the day knowing I have contributed to the effort to help someone else, and I have no hesitation in telling others where I work and why.
Darcy H., In-Home Services Assistant Supervisor--I have worked for Oxford HealthCare since September of 2005. I started here shortly after my husband's grandmother passed away. She had passed away in a nursing home shortly after her doctor ordered her there. He never offered an option for an aide to come into the home, and we were not aware at the time that such a service existed. After her passing, I was doing some research online and came across Oxford HealthCare's website and decided that I wanted to be a part of a company that would provide service to keep the elderly and disabled in their homes where they could remain comfortable while getting the care they needed.
After getting hired on as an aide, I realized that this was not like any other job I have ever had. If I had known about this company 20 years ago, I would have been an employee then. I have found in the almost 4 years I have been here that no matter where in the company you work, whether the field or office, there is not an employee at Oxford that doesn't have a caring heart. They are always willing to help wherever needed.
Working for Oxford HealthCare is not only my job, it's my passion. I love coming to work every day knowing that I, along with other employees, am going to make a difference for our clients, families, and employees.
Kay M., MSW, Care Coordinator--I have worked at Oxford almost 14 years. I love working at Oxford primarily because I get paid for helping people. Oxford has high standards of job performance which I strive to achieve. Every day is different with new clients and new situations. Most clients and family who are calling in are in a stressful situation and appreciate someone listening with a sympathetic ear and explaining some options to them. We are encouraged to allow callers as much time as needed to discuss their situation. We offer services through Oxford and also keep abreast of community programs and resources to provide as much information as possible.
I also like Oxford because their heart is in the right place. The goal is to provide excellent services. Sometimes service is provided even when there is no payment available. The community care fund has also helped hundreds of clients with safety equipment over the years. I know Oxford employees often go above and beyond in helping clients and their families.
I am also very blessed to have wonderful co-workers and supervisors who are conscientious, helpful, fun and caring. We work hard and are supportive of each other through difficult times. If one of us is too busy to leave at 5, everyone else offers to stay late and help catch up. We are a close team and know we'll get help whenever needed. I plan to finish out my career at Oxford and am proud and happy to do so.
Leah S., In-Home Aide--I love to work for Oxford HealthCare because I learn how to provide quality care to Oxford clients, and it is appreciated. I enjoy knowing I am making a difference in the lives of Oxford clients.
Employees at Oxford HealthCare are wonderful, caring people, working together and helping each other to provide quality care to Oxford clients. Oxford HealthCare tries to make my job as easy to perform as possible. I appreciate the supplies provided to me and the pay scale and benefits.
Lisa B., In-Home Aide--When I first went to work for Oxford it was because I wanted to help people and make a difference. The shock was how well they treat their employees. We get little thank you cards, super star pens for special recognition, and a number of service awards. We are respected. Everyone works together, there's no stepping on one another to get to the top. But that is such a small piece of the puzzle.
My favorite thing about Oxford is the clients. We have such a variety. Some of them need help a couple of hours a week all the way to seven days a week. But the great thing is no matter the need, we are able to meet it. We do more than just clean homes, we meet personal needs. We make it possible for some of them to be able to stay in their homes. We put smiles on the faces of the sick, hurting, and disabled, by showing kindness and compassion. Some days what they need most is a hug or listening ear. And some haven't been able to do a lot for quite a while. When we get their house back in order, they are so proud of it.
As a Field Coordinator I go and visit clients all over Webster County, and the thing I hear the most is, "If there is an angel here on earth, I know it's my aide." I get to hear all the stories about how special the little extras we do for them are. At the end of the day, I like to reflect, and it brings a smile to my face to know I touched a life, a heart, and sometimes eased the stress of an entire family. So what I love most about working for Oxford is it gives me the chance to be someone's angel.
Amber P., Personal Care Assistant--I have worked for Oxford for one year. There are many reasons why I love working for Oxford. The first reason is that Oxford is so flexible. You can tell them what times you want to work, and they find work for you. Now tell me how many jobs are like that? Not very many. I have four children and one on the way, so I love that Oxford can be so flexible and they find work when I can work.
Another reason I like working for Oxford is because we go to the client's house. I believe when a person is at home they are more comfortable and you can truly show love and compassion for that person. Finally, I love working for Oxford because I like all the people in the office. I have gotten to know them and share my life with them. Twice a year we have an awesome meeting with many prizes and new information.
I would tell anyone who may be looking for an exceptional place to work to give Oxford a try. They have the best flexibility of any employer I have ever worked for. I believe working for Oxford is exceptional for anyone, whether they want a part-time job or a full-time career. At Oxford you can function in one of many different types of jobs ranging from being a housekeeper, to a personal care assistant, to registered nursing.
LaRue L., RN Nursing Supervisor--I have worked for Oxford for over twelve years. When I decided to go to work for a home care agency, I looked for one with a good reputation. According to the people I asked, Oxford was the best. Even twelve years later, Oxford still has a wonderful reputation.
Oxford stands out from the others in several ways. When we say that "We set the standard of excellence for home care," we truly mean it. We not only provide excellent care, but we are passionate about meeting our clients' needs. Our employees donate to a fund used for purchasing needed equipment for clients. We sent out hot meals and warm drinks to clients during the ice storm in January, 2007. We have taken our clients to see Christmas lights in Springfield, delivered Valentine goody bags, sent cards, and the list goes on. I have seen so much compassion demonstrated by so many of our employees that some might not consider it believable.
Oxford is a progressive company with a vision for the future of home health care. One example of this is the fast growing technology of telehealth. We have been instrumental in piloting a state program, demonstrating the benefits and developing it to become a common tool for practitioners to help reduce hospitalizations and emergency room visits.
I appreciate the honesty and integrity of Oxford HealthCare. It defines the company. I could not remain working for a company that was not responsible and a good steward of Medicare and Medicaid funds. There is nothing to hide when inspectors or monitors arrive. Our Oxford family has many reasons to be proud!
Kathy B., In-Home Services Regional Supervisor--I have been working at Oxford HealthCare for 10 years, and I love it! There are many reasons why I enjoy working here. The main one is I get the opportunity to help people. What a wonderful feeling I get when I can help provide services for someone in their home that would otherwise have to go to a nursing home or other facility. It's a joy to help keep people in their homes. What we do at Oxford HealthCare is a wonderful service, not only for our clients/patients but for their families and for the community.
I have worked in all three of our "buildings" and out in the field over the years and can truly say that I have felt welcome and part of a "family" here at Oxford. The employees are great to work with. I feel very lucky to be part of the Oxford HealthCare community.
